Great interview.. Thanks

Hello Andrew,please bring Ivan Scherman.
I tried - his marketing people are a pain to deal with so I gave up, might try again soon
Shorting is for people who have enough money to make it fail. It should not be legal.
shorting is an essential part of price discovery and market liquidity
and banning short sellers should not be legal
Great show as always. I've learnt so much from BST and the great guests you have on the show. I'm looking to develop a 5m scalping strategy and was wondering if anybody has tested fixed ATR vs rolling ATR? The trade has been open for 100 candles. fixed_atr_based_stoploss has the same SL 1200 but rolling_atr_based_stoploss now has SL 1000. Both examples opened the same trade, but rolling_based_atr_stoploss = -(atr_value * 2 / trade.open_rate) so updates the stop loss on every candle whereas fixed_atr_based_stoploss just calculated the ATR on the entry candle only and persisted with those. I feel like this is probably a Linda Raschke style question but hope some other traders here can help.
glad you enjoyed the show!

good point he makes there
Amazing
Thank you for your kind words
Thank you!
It’s a great book, but It’s a fictional biography and does not accurately reflect his life. The real story of Jesse Livermore serves as both a testament to his financial acumen and a cautionary tale of the emotional toll in the world of investing.
Sir indian markat working stratage pls send video pls😢😢
Sir indian markat reviw pls😢
A decade of lost time! I can identity with that. I was introduced to rules based trading back in 2002 but due to poor timing (a bad market regime) I concluded it didnt work. I then went into investing using fundamentals. This was a 12 year wilderness. Thankfully I rediscovered mechanical rules based trading back in 2019. What a mistake straying off the path.
I think many traders can identify with that, especially at the beginning when we're all trying to figure out what works best for us. Glad to see you're back on the path Neil!
I like this one very much as it relates to my own way of thinking a lot. I especially liked it when he said he got really exited when he gained the capabilities to test his own ideas. That's exactly what motivates me as well. Having created my own extensive simulator allowing me to test ideas quickly really helps a lot! He also spoke about having multiple systems and looking at the average of their results. Again, exactly what I'm trying to do. I can test multiple strategies over (long) periods of time simultaneously, allowing me to see how the strategies complement each other. Great to hear an experienced trader mention similar things!
glad you enjoyed this one - your approach sounds solid
yes
Wow, so complicated to explain an indicator as Macd.is he sharing any statistical back test on any assets or refs os single stocks?
we've shared the concept, it's up to you to verify it for yourself
Spend time to trust your Own system and don’t be too eager to go online. Patience and when everything works correctly then go live with your algorithms.
well said squeezer!
Thank you. How do we get ahold of this indicator? Is it part of a certain platform? Or can I program a standard macd to include this.
hi Geoff, I think Alex said the indicator is available on most of the big platforms now, but if not the formula is easy, just divide the MACD by ATR of the long MA period.
or other option is to contact alex, contact details are shown 52 mins into the replay
Thanks! I like your approach to deal with the data.
Thank you.
Glad it was helpful and thanks for the support!
Thanks guys! I didn't know about the MacdV but have programmed it into my own system. It certainly is a big improvement over the traditional one. Thanks for sharing!
This was a very basic , at a high level description of the indicator. There are a lot of techniques, setups that were created by the normalisation. I am glad you liked it.
Great to hear!
@@AlexSpiroglou Yeah, like it a lot! I'm already experimenting with it and am using it for both entry and exit signals (in test strategies for now). I would like to learn more though. Do you have more resources on the MacdV usage?
@@jeroencommandeur Yes I do. Send me an email so I can send you more info

Thank you the invitation and our chat. It was very enjoyable
It was our pleasure Alex, thank you!
you should be interviewing Vinny Emini from Algobox... his indicators are above and beyond what you see in the Market especially his Enigma
Now invite the real PPO guys in ...
who are they Mathy?
Hi, I'm a fan ofvthe Chande momentum oscillator myself. Thanks for the upload 🥰
I have the highest respect for Chande. But that oscillator is a range-bound/normalised indicator, that suffers the same challenges as the rest in that category. all the best
Welcome!
I am listening to this right now.... This is fantastic stuff
thanks Peter, glad you're enjoying it!
Surprised the librarian didn’t tell that guy to keep it down lol
hahah
Great podcast lots of value!
Glad you enjoyed it
what the guest says about opportunity cost is true. I demo traded my algo live in 2023, then went with a real account in 2024. i regret because i missed out on a winning 12 months 2023. I should have put it on a prop trading account at least, which is what i have done this year 2024, paid $1k for a $20k drawdown. wouldah, couldah, shouldah - regret. the backtest were good, have a punt, stop being so educated, wasting time.
yeah, many traders get stuck in demo mode, glad to hear you've progressed from there, well done
nice 1.
Thanks!
You cannot, and will not, ever beat the house, because the house cheats. They know client positions and with PFOF, place an order in the lit market against the internalized retail position. Its a game of wealth transfer. Tell me how its possible that retail traders get hosed, 401k holders get around 5-10% a year, and hedge funds and banks earn billions and billions and billions. It's a fraud. The only way you can reliably make money in markets is with insider information, luck, an arbitrage, or taking advantage of derivatives being miss-priced. Anyone who's in the game long enough knows its a sham.
that's one way to view it neill
Yeah right.... Makes sense only if you have a multimillion $ account. If that's your expectation with an account south of $1m, you might as well work a 9-5 job, ... without the risk of drawdown, going bankrupt or the associated stress.
good point - and many traders would be better off working a 9-5 job, because they start with a smaller account and expect to make a huge return, so they take on excessive leverage and blow their account up. (I know because I did it too)
As always great content and interesting interviews, BST is my absolute go to for trading knowledge! I will look into the article thats in the shownotes. Again many thanks!
thanks Mikael, glad you enjoy the show!

💎 Trading is a global 🌎 poker & chess game that is executed thru a auction system (order flow thru bid/ask). Dynamic profession. 💎
good way to look at it andrew!
The most important metric of any model for pro traders who live off trading income is frequency of new highs. People paying bills can’t sit for months waiting for new cash. Of course, if someone has a very selective strategy with a huge payout a few times a year that can also work.
that's an interesting metric, I've never heard some mention it like that, but of course traders talk about consistency etc which is similar indirectly
Thank you for this video. If I was watching live I would've asked these 2 questions: 1. what impact have 0DTE SPX options had on the value of VIX maybe pulling volume from the monthlies, etc.? 2. How does long SVXY vs short UVXY perform in accounts that cannot hold short positions?
The problem being that if it stops working you dont know why. I find it more challenging to truly understand a strategy, but once you do understand it, you can apply this across miltiples.
yeah, that can trouble some traders. I think in the case with Tomas, he doesn't care why a strategy failed because he builds many (100s) so he just swaps it out for another that's working
@@BetterSystemTraderPodcast that makes sense. Does he use a ranking system based on past performance to then, for example trade the balance graph with the most momentum? How does he manage so many strategies?
👌🏼
thanks cake!
Very good VIX-related infos in this interview, thank you very much!
glad you liked it ultra!
Almost all indicators use price and volume as their days inputs. The rest is fancy math and graphs with pretty colors. Make of that what you will...
agreed phillip - many indicators are redundant, they show essentially the same thing
Golden. More system traders please!
absolutely!
Yeah trading is a boring profession to be honest ❤
Good info 👍
Thanks 👍
